This page is a letter of reference for Jacob Ronald Knowlton from Greeneville Tennessee.
Mr. Knowlton was a welding student in my beginning class in the fall of 2022 and the advanced class in the spring of 2023.
During my time as Mr. Knowltons welding instructor, I observed the following.
Mr. Knowlton exhibited a work ethic that was top of his class and he coupled that with a exceptional desire to learn more about welding and progress not only his knowledge, but also his skill. He is the type of student I prefer in my class in all aspects.
During his time here, Mr. Knowlton went above and beyond the “minimum required” and often came in to the shop to practice on days/periods in which he was not scheduled to attend school. This coupled with his apparent drive to excel in welding, gave him skills and knowledge that exceeded that of his peers who had received the same number of training hours…or more.
During his short time here he also competed in two welding contests in the region and placed 1st in his division in one of them. Additionally, he was able to complete an AWS Certified Welder test using SMAW per AWS D1.1 in the 3G position. This is a test that is typically performed by students with at least one more semester of training.
Overall, I highly recommend Mr. Knowlton for any program (employment, training, or scholarship) related to welding.
My only regret is that he was not able to be a student here with me until his senior year.
